Optional equipment

  • Collision Prevention Assit
  • Collision Prevention Assit

Collision Prevention Assist registers vehicles driving in front and stationary vehicles. At a speed from 18 mph to maximum speed the distance to the vehicle driving in front will be registered and the upcoming situation will be evaluated. Stationary vehicles are detected within the speed range of 18 to 43 mph. The system works in a distance up to 65 m maximum.

The radar unit is located on the right side of the front bumper. When the system recognizes a too-close distance or danger of collision an optical signal first occurs, this is followed by an additional acoustic signal. The system does not activate the brake pedal but if the driver does his action is supported by the Brake Assist PRO with higher braking pressure.

A visual warning (control lamp in the instrument cluster) lights up permanently when a too-short distance to the vehicle driving in front is recognized. The warning appears at a speed starting from 18mph and only in case of moving objects.

The dynamic collision warning is activated as soon as the vehicle approaches another vehicle at high speed or under strong acceleration. In this case, a visual signal (control lamp in the instrument cluster) as well as an acoustic warning (two warning sounds) occurs.

The Collision Prevention Assist is activated at engine-start. The system can be deactivated via a button on the upper control panel. If the system is deactivated, the instrument cluster flashes a warning message.

Brake Assist PRO is activated within a speed range of 18mph up to maximum speed and constantly observes the driving conditions. The system cannot be deactivated by the driver. The Brake Assist PRO calculates the ideal brake pressure needed to avoid an accident in case of danger. The Brake Assist PRO supports the driver with stronger brake pressure while braking.

  • Blind Spot Assist
  • Blind Spot Assist

Blind Spot Assist is available for Panel Vans and Traveliner models. It detects vehicles in the blind spot via four close range radar- sensors which are located at the area of B-pillar and rear bumper.

As soon as a vehicle is detected in the blind spot area a red warning triangle lights up in the corresponding exterior mirror. If however the driver activates the direction indicator for change of lane the warning triangle begins to flash followed additionally by an acoustic signal. The system is active in the speed range of 18 mph up to maximum vehicle speed.

At speeds lower than 18 mph a yellow warning triangle in the exterior mirror indicates that the system is not active.

The Blind Spot Assist is activated at engine start. A red-yellow warning triangle in the exterior mirror announces that the system is ready for operation with the start of the engine. The system can be deactivated via a button on the upper control panel. The system deactivation is shown in the instrument cluster. A yellow warning triangle illuminates when the system is not active.

  • Crosswind Assist
  • Crosswind Assist

Crosswind Assist, is standard on all 4x2 medium and long wheelbase 3.5 t vans including weight-increase variants and Traveliner models.

The Crosswind Assist detects sudden strong wind blasts impacting the vehicle laterally and helps to avoid that the vehicle unintentionally drifts away via targeted, one-sided intervention on the brake. The Crosswind Assist works at a speed from 50 mph up to maximum vehicle speed.

When a wind blast is registered the wheels facing the wind side are braked according to the situation. The braking pressure depends in this case on the wind strength. The system cannot be deactivated by the driver. In cases of a considerable system intervention the driver is informed via the instrument cluster. In the low-line instrument cluster the ESP-warning lamp will illuminate while a text message is given additionally in the display.

Slight system intervention will not be notified.

When the system recognizes a safety critical situation (for example ESP-intervention, aquaplaning) the Crosswind Assist will not intervene. The steering behaviour gives information whether the driver is active and already compensating through steering correction. In this case the intervention of the system will diminish.

  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Lane Keeping Assist

Lane Keeping Assist observes the lane in front at a speed starting from 37 mph via a camera located on the inside of the windscreen. The system identifies the lane and the road markings by sensing the colour contrast. If the system registers an unintentional deviation from the lane the driver's attention is drawn by an acoustic warning signal for a course correction.

To initiate a change of lane the indicator has to be activated first. Through this the system realizes that the driver wants to change the lane intentionally. No warning occurs in this case. Also no warning occurs when the driver for example accelerates in a passing action on highways or turns in a curve.

The Lane Keeping Assist is activated at engine start. The system can be deactivated via a push-button on the upper control panel. The system deactivation is notified in the instrument cluster.

  • Highbeam Assist
  • Highbeam Assist

Highbeam Assist is available for all Sprinter models. It is based on a camera system that is located on the inside of the windscreen and monitors the traffic in front and the opposing traffic. The camera identifies other vehicles and sees their distance. If the system does not detect any vehicle in front and or traffic in the opposite direction, the high beam is switched on automatically.

The Highbeam Assist is activated if the light lever is turned to 'AUTO' and the high beam function of the combination lever at the steering wheel is switched on. The system can be permanently deactivated via the instrument cluster. The Highbeam Assist is active at a speed starting from 21 mph and works fully automatically.
