Award-winning catering equipment specialist QCEL has turned once again to Mercedes-Benz Vans Dealer Rossetts Commercials after winning another slice of business from its biggest client, a leading high street pizza chain.
Worthing-based QCEL – Quality Catering Equipment Ltd – is using the fuel-efficient Sprinter to deliver two-deck pizza ovens to more than 170 restaurants nationwide. The chassis cab’s arrival marks the latest step in a burgeoning relationship between the company and its local Dealer.
A fuel-efficient 313 CDI Long model, it is fitted with a dropside body by Solent Bodybuilders, of Fareham, and a 500 kg DEL column tail-lift. It has lined up alongside the operator’s three other Mercedes-Benz vehicles, a Sprinter panel van, a Vito and a Citan Sport.
“We are installing four to six ovens per week,” explained Managing Director Steve Coleman. “They’re big and bulky, weighing in at 960 kg apiece. Our new Sprinter enables us to transport two at a time, while the dropside body ensures they are easily accessible to our teams, who can load and unload efficiently and safely.”
QCEL will also assign its Sprinter to other duties, including deliveries of fryers for a well-known chain of chicken restaurants. Founded by Mr Coleman in 1985, the company supplies and installs a huge range of equipment, from grills to ice machines, for leading names in the QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) sector, as well as independent outlets. It also provides comprehensive after sales support covering maintenance and repairs, as well as an in-house design and manufacturing service for those requiring custom-made kit.
The company uses its Sprinter and Vito vans to deliver equipment and parts, while the Citan Sport is assigned to engineering support staff. So impressed has QCEL been with their cost-effective performance and reliability, and with the service it receives from Rossetts Commercials, that when the lease expires on its remaining, non-Mercedes-Benz vans, they too will be replaced with vehicles bearing the three-pointed star.
“Rossetts’ back-up is phenomenal and has been a key factor in our decision to switch the fleet to Mercedes-Benz,” said Mr Coleman. “Its sales executive Martin Gearing is very responsive and the fact that unlike our previous supplier, the Dealer has a workshop which remains open through the night is a huge bonus.
“It means we can drop a van off at 5pm and pick it up the next morning without any disruption to our business or impact on our customers. Mercedes-Benz Service Plans represent another massive ‘tick’ – they’re excellent value for money and provide great peace of mind.”
He continued: “Our teams love the comfort of their Mercedes-Benz vans, as they arrive on-site feeling fresh and ready to do the job. For my part, it’s reassuring as an operator to know that I’m sending my people out in the safest vans on the road, while Rossetts can supply and look after anything from a small Citan to a heavy truck.”
Like all Mercedes-Benz vans, QCEL’s vehicles are backed by three-year, unlimited mileage warranties and MobiloVan cover, which includes free roadside assistance for up to 30 years, provided they continue to be maintained within the manufacturer’s official Dealer Network.
QCEL is also planning to recruit additional field service engineers this year, as the company pursues its ambition to become the number one provider of equipment and after sales services to the QSR sector.
Mr Coleman concluded: “These new joiners will also need vans, so we look forward to building on our partnership with Rossetts Commercials as the business continues to grow.”
